About this qualification
This qualification is designed for 14 -19 year olds who are interested in learning about the automotive retail industry. It is aimed at learners who prefer and respond to 'hands-on' learning. Therefore, it has a practical approach to assessment and include many visual questioning techniques which will stimulate and interest learners.
This Certificate is ideal for those learners who wish to undertake a qualification that will support their progress to a Foundation (Level 1) Diploma. It can also supplement their progress to GCSEs and other appropriate destinations. The units are flexible and are designed in a way to support all types of vehicles. Examples include:
- Light vehicle
- Heavy vehicles
- Motorcycles and scooters
The vehicles used for assessment have a realistic resemblance to current vehicles. We use whole vehicles and specially-prepared realistic vehicle rigs for training and assessment. The technology used is similar to that used today.
Tools and equipment
We have the tools and equipment to facilitate the vehicle types and units being worked upon and they are in a safe condition to support learning and assessment.
All units have a simple 2-page assessment document to cover the practical content. The knowledge element can be supported by a number of methods. Unit questions can be answered either orally, written or centre-devised to support vehicle types, including photographic, video, tape and other recording methods. Product and evidence of components made during the assessment should also be made available.
This qualification is not on the 2016 school performance tables.
