This qualification is designed for 14 -19 year olds who are interested in learning about the maintenance of motor vehicles and the various roles that are available in the retail motor industry. The qualification has a practical approach to assessment and includes many visual questioning techniques, which will stimulate and interest the learner.
This Diploma is ideal for those learners who wish to undertake a qualification which will support their progress to a Level 2 Diploma. It can also supplement their progress to GCSEs and other appropriate destinations, such as Apprenticeships and employment. The learner outcomes are assessed by a variety of task-based assessment, observation, oral questioning and online assessments.
The vehicles used for assessment have a realistic resemblance to current vehicles. We use whole vehicles and specially-prepared realistic vehicle rigs for training and assessment. The technology used is similar to that used today.
Tools and equipment
We have the tools and equipment to facilitate the vehicle types and units being worked upon. They are in a safe condition to support learning and assessment.
All units have a simple 2-page assessment document to cover the practical content. The knowledge element can be supported by a number of methods. Unit questions can be answered either orally, written or centre devised to support vehicle types, including photographic, video, tape and other recording methods.
Note: This qualification is not on the 2016 school performance tables.
